First Youngest Thai Female Professor in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Havard Medical School

Dr. Wanda Phipatanakul, daughter of Drs. Supote and the late Chintana Phipatanakul was recently
promoted to full Professor in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Harvard Medical School.
In achieving this milestone in her career, she has become the first Thai Professor at Harvard Medical
School and also the youngest female physician in their history to be promoted to this level.

Dr. Phipatanakul joined the faculty at Harvard and its affiliate Boston Children’s Hospital 17 years ago.
Her primary research focuses on how children’s allergen exposures at school affect their
disease outcomes. She has published 180 papers and secured more than $45 million in NIH grant
money for her research. She is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal Allergy and
Clinical Immunology, the official publication of The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

“I love making a difference. I like to try to make discoveries that could impact the lives of people in
understanding disease and health outcomes,” one of her favorite quotes.

Dr. Phipatanukul joined TPAA as life member in 2007 and had conducted several lectures in Allergy
during TPAA’s Annual Convention in Thailand in recent years.
