Announcement of Thai Scholars Fellowship Fund at Harvard School of Public Health
December 15, 2017
On December 5, 2017, Harvard University has established a new endowment, “Thai Scholars Fellowship Fund” in honor of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Prince Mahidol of Songkla. Together they introduced public health and modern medicine to Thailand and helped to advance the health, prosperity, and longevity of its citizens.
TPAA has been collaborating with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, The King of Thailand Birthplace Foundation (KTBF), and six medical schools in Thailand over the past year to achieve this milestone. The Fund will be activated when contributions reach $250,000.00 to establish an endowed fellowship fund at Harvard School of Public Health. Our goal is to eventually reach $1,500,000.00 in order to be able to reap sufficient benefits. The income of the Fund will be used to provide financial support, including but not limited to assistance with tuition, stipends, and fees, to students at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with a preference for students from Thailand. Ideally, the recipients will return to our homeland to use their new knowledge to advance Public Health and Medicine in Thailand and make a difference in our country, just as the King’s father had done when he finished his study at Harvard 90 years ago. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej tirelessly worked the entire 70 years of his reign to improve the lives of Thais everywhere. His Majesty and Prince Mahidol fulfilled their mission to their people. It is now our mission to follow in their footsteps to improve public health and medicine in Thailand, as stated in TPAA objectives.
We should all be very proud to be able to show our deep gratitude and support the advancement of healthcare in our motherland by giving generously to this great cause. I have witnessed and admired the good-hearted and compassionate contributions from so many members in the past, and I am looking forward to seeing that again for this fund. Make donation to TPAAF “Thai Scholars Fellowship Fund” (see attached form)
Please accept my gratitude for your support of this endeavor. May you and family be blessed with happiness, great health, wealth and wisdom.
Siriporn Kulkamthorn, M.D.
President TPAA 2017.
